Which factors affect the efficiency of bucket elevator?
There are many factors that can affect the capacity of a bucket elevator, such
as bucket style, belt speed, pulley diameter, head profile, outlet position,
material particle size, shape, density, angle of repose, coefficient of friction
and terminal velocity.
Problems with Bucket Elevators and Benefits of Pneumatic Conveying Systems
Manufacturers often choose continuous bucket elevators because these
machines seem like the obvious choice. Manufacturers need to handle material
gently; they need to move materially vertically; they have limited space to do so;
they need to move material quickly; and they’re using a belt conveyor to move
product. A bucket elevator will accomplish these things. But it will do so with
major drawbacks. While buckets may seem like the only choice, there are other
options that meet manufacturers’ material handling needs.
Bucket Elevator Disadvantages :
The list of Bucket elevator disadvantages is the same length, however.
Disadvantages include:
- High installation costs compared to other conveyance systems.
- Extensive preventative maintenance.
- High maintenance expenses (especially if PM is neglected).
- Difficult maintenance due to placement of the motor, elevation of
- chutes, and common inclusion of a pit at the base of the elevator.
- Must be overheight for discharge.
- Cascading bucket failure (when one bucket fails, many others become damaged).

A Better Solution to go with Pneumatic Conveying Systems :
Product Description :
- This system works on a low solid to air ratio.
- It has low air pressure at higher air volume.
- It works with a high velocity for the transfer of solids.
- System work with pressure conveying or vacuum conveying.
- This system is used for a wide variety of non-abrasive solids.
- It is economical for up to 200 meters of conveying distance.
- It mainly comprises of a Positive Displacement Blower (pressure < 2 bar), a Rotary Feeder and a Product Separator.
Features of Vacuum Conveying System :
- Designed with multiple pick-up and discharge points with automated controls
- Exceptionally suits a wide range of bulk conveying applications in food, dairy, pharmaceutical and other industries
- Custom-engineered and fully compatible with OEM machinery
- Ideal for routed vertically, horizontal or other directions
- Suitable to move various densities of materials
- Minimize cross-contamination while moving the products over long or short distances
- Totally enclosed and dust-free design to allow the safe transfer of materials
- Easy to set up, cleaning, inspect and maintain
- Our Pneumatic Conveying Systems can handle materials such as cement, lime, ash, clinker, fertilizer, coal, soya beans, grain, gypsum.
- Our calculations of the new design of a Pneumatic Conveying Systems long life expectancy have been proven by our customers and with the latest design lasts about two and half to three times longer than previous versions.
- The Pneumatic Conveying Systems are designed for dust free material transport and are suitable for applications in any kind of indoors and outdoors environment. From small cement and grain dimensions up to enormous coal.
